Claude Code plugin

Revue’s plugin for Claude Code connects each Claude Code session to Revue. It hands Claude the comments you send, wakes an idle session when they arrive, and records each of Claude’s turns as a checkpoint you can read in Revue. This page covers installing it, what it changes, and what its states mean. To use it, see Review Claude Code’s work.

Install it from any of these. Each shows what it will change before it changes anything.

  • Setup’s Claude Code plugin row.

  • Settings › AI review, under Claude Code integration. Revue › Install Claude Code Plugin opens it there.

  • The terminal:

    Terminal window
    revue agents install

Run Revue from Applications first. A copy running from its disk image, or from a temporary location macOS chose, is refused, because the plugin would run a Revue that’s about to go away.

The install copies the plugin into ~/.revue/integrations/claude-code.versions/, points ~/.revue/integrations/claude-code at the new copy, and registers it with Claude Code’s own commands:

Terminal window
claude plugin marketplace add ~/.revue/integrations/claude-code --scope user
claude plugin install revue@revue --scope user

If the claude command isn’t on your PATH, revue agents install prints the /plugin commands to run inside a Claude Code session instead.

To update, do the same again. The row offers Update when the copy Claude Code loads differs from the one this Revue brings. Each update makes a new copy, so a running session never finds the plugin missing, and a copy is deleted 14 days after a newer one replaced it.

The plugin acts only in checkouts Revue knows: one you’ve opened in Revue, or one whose remote is under an owner you allowed in Settings › Agent sources. Everywhere else its hooks exit at once and record nothing.

Claude Code event Runs What it does
SessionStart revue agent attach Shows the session in Revue, and tells Claude when comments are waiting.
SessionStart revue checkpoint --leftover, in the background Records turns an earlier session captured but never recorded, such as the last turn of a claude -p run.
UserPromptSubmit revue agent prompt Marks the session working, and hands Claude any comments sent since it last listened.
PreToolUse, PostToolUse, PostToolUseFailure revue agent tool Notes which tool calls are running, so a comment never wakes Claude in the middle of one. The two post-tool hooks run in the background.
Stop revue agent stop Captures the files as the turn ended, and marks the turn over. Claude Code waits for this one.
Stop revue checkpoint, in the background Records that capture as a checkpoint, labelled with Claude’s last message.
Stop revue agent await, in the background Waits up to 30 minutes and wakes the idle session when you send comments.
StopFailure revue agent stop, then revue checkpoint The same when a turn ends on an API error, without the error as a label.
SessionEnd revue agent detach Marks the session ended, and returns its unread comments to the checkout.

The plugin also puts revue on the PATH of Claude’s Bash tool, so Claude can run the agent commands even when your own PATH doesn’t have it.

Setup, Settings › AI review and revue agents status show one of these, with the button that fixes it.

The plugin brings a skill, revue-comments, that teaches Claude the comment loop. Claude reads the threads with revue comments, changes the code, replies with revue reply, and marks each thread addressed with revue resolve. It asks in a reply when a comment is unclear rather than guessing. Only you resolve a thread, in Revue.

Choose Remove plugin in Settings › AI review or in Setup, or run:

Terminal window
revue agents uninstall

It runs claude plugin uninstall revue@revue --scope user, removes the revue marketplace when it’s Revue’s own copy, then deletes ~/.revue/integrations/claude-code and ~/.revue/integrations/claude-code.versions. Without claude on your PATH, it prints the /plugin commands to run in a Claude Code session instead.

Remove the plugin before you delete Revue. Otherwise each Claude Code session says once, as it starts, that Revue is missing or too old, and the plugin’s other hooks stay silent. See Uninstall Revue.
