Environment variables
Revue needs no environment variables. These are for running a second copy alongside your own, scripting the
command line, and trying other AI models. Set them in the shell that starts Revue or runs revue.
An app opened from Finder or the Dock doesn’t see them.
Data folders
Section titled “Data folders”| Variable | What it does |
|---|---|
REVUE_DATA_DIR |
Revue’s data folder, ~/.revue unless you set it. Drafts, windows and caches then go in native-state and cache folders inside it, instead of Application Support and Caches. |
REVUE_NATIVE_DATA_DIR |
A folder for everything the app keeps, as development builds use. The data folder is its backend folder, drafts and windows go in state and caches in cache. |
REVUE_NATIVE_STATE_DIR |
Where drafts, viewed marks, windows and tabs go, ahead of either variable above. |
The agent commands, revue hooks and the developer commands read only REVUE_DATA_DIR. To point them at a copy of
Revue started with REVUE_NATIVE_DATA_DIR=<dir>, set REVUE_DATA_DIR=<dir>/backend. Files and folders lists what
each folder holds.
The review server
Section titled “The review server”These are read by the developer commands.

|---|---|
REVUE_BIND |

REVUE_GITHUB_API_BASE, REVUE_GITHUB_GRAPHQL_URL |
Another GitHub API to talk to, such as a test server. |

runs, so a reply is credited to it. REVUE_BIN names the revue the plugin runs, if you need to point it somewhere
else.

Section titled “Caches”| Variable | What it does |
|---|---|
REVUE_CACHE_BUDGET_MB |
